- Interceptive treatment
At an early age children have a deciduous or mixed dentition. They can experience problems in the development of the palate, because of incorrect breathing for example, thumb sucking etc. The teeth can also position themselves incorrectly, without the child being aware of this. The child then shifts his or her jaw to find a comfortable bite and develops a skeletal malformation as he grows.
Early treatment can help in the facial growth and the eruption of the permanent teeth. In order to do this, Dr Gregor starts with an inerceptive phase, this method consists of enlarging the palate, allowing better coordination between the upper and lower jaw, better breathing and harmonious growth.
From ages 11 to 16. We take advantage of the important skeletal growth and the dental eruption to achieve our objective: functional and aesthetic dentition over the long term.
- Adult treatment
Dental alignment can be done at any age if the gums and the bones are in healthy condition. Late orthodontic treatment can still improve the appearance of your smile. Crooked teeth and incorrect occlusion contribute to bone loss and to gum disease, to caries, and to abnormal loss of enamel. These problems can also trigger headaches and joint pain.
- Treatment of joint pain
Just like those of the knees, the joints in the head can experience wear. To relieve pressure, correct detrimental shifting and soothe the joints, we use a splint (mouth guard) on the upper teeth which deprograms and relaxes the facial muscles. The joints stabilize gently, and a correct diagnosis can then be made to determine the cause(s) of the problem.
- Orthognathic surgery
Seventy percent of the population enjoys basic skeletal harmony. Besides genetic skeletal problems, problems referred to as "functional" can create a skeletal imbalance, through mouth breathing, the incorrect placement of the tongue while speaking, swallowing, or even when at rest.
These bad habits can create skeletal alterations that are not salvageable by traditional orthodontics for older adolescents or adults. Surgical correction is then necessary to complete the orthodontic treatment.
